Journey of Faith

"This is the Day"

“This Is the Day” — Spoken Word Inspired by Psalm 118

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His mercy endures forever.
These are more than words --
they’re a foundation for every breath.
Because no matter how the world shifts,
no matter what yesterday held,
His goodness hasn’t changed.
His love still stands.
And today — this very moment — is a gift.

There have been days when I didn’t see the way forward.
Moments when I wondered if my prayers even reached Heaven.
But even then, His mercy held me.
Even then, His hand was guiding me through the dark.
When I cried out to the Lord in my distress,
He answered me --
not always the way I expected,
but always in the way I needed.
He set me in a spacious place.
He lifted the weight I couldn’t carry.
He whispered peace into my storm.

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid.
He is my helper, my defender, my song.
The same God who split the sea
still makes a way for me.
The same hand that steadied David’s sling
still strengthens my heart today.
He has never left me.
He has never failed me.
And He never will.

There were moments when I thought the story was over --
but God was just beginning a new chapter.
When others said, “You can’t,”
He whispered, “Watch what I can do.”
When the weight of fear tried to crush me,
He became my strength.
When the noise of doubt grew loud,
He became my song.
When I was surrounded on every side,
He became my refuge.

The right hand of the Lord does mighty things!
The right hand of the Lord is lifted high!
The right hand of the Lord brings victory!
I will not die, but live,
and declare what the Lord has done!
Every breath is a testimony.
Every sunrise is a reminder.
Every step I take is proof that He still makes a way.

This is the day the Lord has made!
I will rejoice — not because everything is perfect,
but because His presence is here.
I will rejoice — not because I have all I want,
but because I have all I need in Him.
Rejoicing isn’t denial — it’s defiance.
It’s standing in the middle of the storm and saying,
“My God is still good.”

You may not see it yet,
but He’s working.
You may not feel it yet,
but His mercy is surrounding you.
You’re not forgotten.
You’re not overlooked.
You are loved --
deeply, intentionally, endlessly --
by a God whose mercy endures forever.
And every moment of your journey,
He’s been right there --
turning pain into purpose,
and waiting into testimony.

So today — lift your eyes.
Breathe deep.
Step forward in faith.
This is the day the Lord has made!
Rejoice and be glad in it!
For He is good,
His promises are sure,
and His mercy endures forever.
